District Conference

On the Saturday night of the District Conference, after a hard day of selling over $700 worth of raffle tickets, all six Interactors went bowling. This was a fun and highly entertaining night. Congratulations to Lewis for winning the night by only a few points over Jono who was leading through most of the game until Lewis got a strike on his last frame. Also well done to Taylah for coming third on her first ever game of bowling. Katie and Diana also did well not to come last. President Matt (who is writing this) came last but was happy because he improved his technique and got a strike!!!!!!
We are all anxiously awaiting Conference 2007 at Bright. See the District Conference page for more information.

We are hoping to have another Go Kart challenge this summer holidays!! Can't wait!

MOVIES

As our good friend and exchange student from Spain Marta is going home this week, some of the Interactors took a trip to the movies to see Hoodwinked last weekend. The movie was greatly enjoyed by all who attended with the hyperactive squirrel Twitchy a popular favourite.

SOVEREIGN HILL

Sovereign Hill was a must-see for Marta before she went home. Ten of the Interactors and a few of their siblings piled into a hired community bus and travelled to Ballarat on Saturday September 2. The experience was both truly rewarding and a little frightening for Marta as well as the Interactors who had lived in Australia their whole lives and never been to visit the attraction. Popular favourites included the Gold Pour in which we witnessed gold melted to extreme temperatures and then cooled to form a solid gold nugget; the old style bowling alley which Taylah and Matt were very proud to have gained a strike each from and the scary but exciting Mine Tour. The fact that the Mine Tour led us around a small, dark, cold mine several feet under the surface did not help anyone's claustrophobia. We saw the huge quartz drill the Widowmaker and Lewis and Jono had their picture taken with it. We also saw the shaky ladders and elevators used by the miners and learnt some of the coded language they used via bell rings. Instead of walking back the way we came at the end of the tour, however, we were assisted onto a train with one community seat to be straddled like a horse and one hand rail on the side. Some of the taller Interactors became nervous when the warning "Keep your arms and legs inside the train at all times as the walls and roof can get low" was issued. Luckily for Taylah, Justin and Marta were a lot braver than she was so she sat between them. Light at the end of the tunnel was a welcome sight for many after the exhilarating ride.

After a visit to the sweets shops for some oversized lollypops and boiled lollies and a visit to the souvenir shop for Marta, we called it a day. Special thanks to Rotarian Kerry for accompanying and driving us to Ballarat. We never knew she had such a mean shot on the bowling alley!!
